Types of submissions
Data visualizations may include but are not limited to: maps, charts, graphs, data art, icons, animations, and drawings/artistic renderings. Submissions can be static, animated, or web-based interactive stories.
Evaluation
Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of individuals with background and expertise in feminist visualization and evaluated in relation to the award categories and to the degree to which the visualization and accompanying statement reflect/embody feminist approaches to visualization.
How to submit
All submissions will take place through online submission portals available HERE. The submission portal will ask for the following information:

How to submit
All submissions will take place through online submission portals available HERE. The submission portal will ask for the following information:
- Name(s)
- Email address(es)
- Affiliation (if relevant; university, organization, etc)
- Disciplinary affiliation (if relevant)
- Which of the following best describes you: undergraduate student; graduate student; post-doctoral scholar; faculty member; not listed, I am____________
- Title of visualization
- Award Category Selection: You will be prompted to identify which of the 5 award category you would like to submit your visualization to; you can choose more than one category.
- Creator’s/Creators’ Statement (250-500 words): A statement that describes the work produced and how it embodies/illustrates the creator’s/creators’ approach to feminist visualization.
- Category Specific Statement(s) (250-500 words per statement): If you would like to include a statement explaining how your process or visualization relates to specific award categories you are welcome to do so! This is particularly encouraged for individuals/teams submitting in the “embracing failure” and “making connections, fostering collaboration” categories.
- Visualization: Attach file or link to site where visualization can be viewed
- Agree to use terms (Check box)
Use Terms: The researchers organizing this challenge (Jill Williams, University of Arizona, and Kate Coddington, University at Albany, SUNY) would like to be able to utilize submissions to promote feminist visualization activities and challenges and for activities related to the research project they are leading on the use of public information campaigns as a mechanism of enforcement. Please indicate here if you authorize us to utilize your submission for these purposes. By agree to this, you still retain copyright to your work and do not give up the right to submit the work to publishers or other repositories. The project PIs will clearly identify your name as the creator of the submission and will not make any alteration, other than as allowed by this license, to your submission. If you have questions or concerns about this, please contact us to discuss. We do not want this to hinder anyone’s participation in the challenge! - Agree that it is your own work (Check box)
